Planning a Destination wedding in 2021?

Heres our top tips for planning that perfect Destination Wedding

Before we outline those things to consider for a destination wedding, it is important to understand what a destination wedding is.

A destination wedding is the kind of wedding that is celebrated in a setting or venue far away from either of the couple’s hometown. In a nutshell, a destination wedding is a well-planned wedding in a foreign country, where the couple, as well as their guests, can stay as long as a week.

Something is intriguing about having a destination wedding. Celebrating your marriage in a far-flung destination means you’re set for a much more intimate wedding ceremony and can ultimately enjoy a two-for-one celebration – wedding and honeymoon.

However, while planning to marry your love in a foreign land, there are some important considerations you need to make, and here are the few important things you should consider as you plan your destination wedding.

Choose the Perfect Location

Being a foreign land doesn’t mean everywhere is perfect. You must ensure that your dream or chosen location has all of the resources needed for your wedding. Think about a cozy location that can also accommodate all your guests.

More so, your chosen wedding theme – beachy, sophisticated, rustic, etc. – will determine your wedding destination.

Consider the Right Time

This is very important as the time of the season in your hometown may not correlate with the time of the season in your wedding destination – you wouldn’t want a wet destination wedding when you can have a dry one in your hometown, and you wouldn’t want a destination in a very hot season.

The weather can sometimes be funny, and you wouldn’t want a situation where the hurricane or summer heatwaves would disrupt your wedding event.

Notify Your Guests in Advance

Inform all your family and friends that you are planning a destination wedding before you send out your wedding IV, so they can plan their budget and trip in advance or gracefully decline the IV if they are tight on budget.

Notifying them in advance will also help them to get the best deals on flights and accommodations. If you are planning a destination wedding, it is important to send out the IVs at least six months before the date.

Note: some of your guests may not be prepared for such a budget and arrangements. So don’t be sad or disappointed if some of your best friends or closest relatives decline the invitation.

Carefully Research the Marriage Requirements in the Destination

It is very important to note that legal marriage requirements differ in different countries and can be complicated in some countries. Some countries have a “residency requirement” (an amount of time you must stay in the country before your ceremony), and this length of time differs with different countries.

In other countries, there are some rules and regulations that must be followed to tie the knot. So, make sure you carefully research the legal requirement related to wedding plans in your destination to avoid being sorry.

Hire a Professional

Finally, ensure that you find a coordinator or an event planner that specializes in destination weddings. This will save you a whole lot of stress, such as overcoming a language barrier or making executive decisions about venues you aren’t too familiar with. A professional can take care of it all for you.
